Athens was his 15th missionary trip and after another escape from persecution. In the Book of Acts, we learn about Paul’s mission in Athens, but during this time, Paul’s heart was longing to visit the new church that he left in Thessaloniki – concerned about them. It was during this time that he commissioned Timothy to visit the Thessalonian church. But what is commissioning? It is Jesus modelled for us with His disciples when He would send them during His ministry on Earth.
